WELCOME 2021

We are back with our ONLINE CLASSES as well as our TRAINING FOR DANCERS in the studio.

We wish you all a fresh start into the new year and hope to be able to move with all of you live and in the studio again soon!

Training for Dancers in the Studio

Thanks to new regulations from the Berlin Senate we can offer daily training classes for dancers. The offer is valid ONLY for professional dancers, who earn their living predominantly, i.e. generally with more than 50 %, with dance. All dancers have to sign an official document before they can take part in the classes.

The number of participants is limited and we strictly follow our hygiene protocoll.

Participation can be booked online or via the Urban Sports Club App.

We are very happy about this extraordinary decision of the Senate to officially recognize the necessity of a daily training for dancers and we thank all those who have been involved in this and who have been active on a political level!

We are continuing as well with our classes ONLINE.

Information about times and teachers can be found here: Timetable

Lockdown #2

In order to contain the pandemic and to comply with the official orders, our studio will be closed presumably until the end of January. We hope to dance soon with you again in our studio. Until then we hope to see you in our online classes!

Studio Philosophy

Marameo is a lively and inspiring place for anyone who wants to pursue their individual approaches to dance.

We host courses and classes that teach precise dance techniques as well as the art of improvisation for participants of all ages and alle levels of experience.

Dancing is an art of interaction, of relationships.

That’s why we make sure that our courses have a friendly atmosphere where recognition and appreciation combine with challenges and constructive feedback, to create training experiences in which social interaction feeds artistic thinking and outstanding professional quality.

We are an international centre for exchange, communication and shared passion, but we also have a local outlook and encourage people from our neighbourhood to participate in our programms.

About marameo

marameo was founded in 1992 and, since that time, has established itself as an institution of vital importance to the Berlin dance scene. The original concept – to offer affordable, daily training for professional dancers – has remained constant over the years. Situated in the centre of Berlin, the studio sees itself as a place of exchange for more then 100 people, who daily attend classes and who demand the highest quality from our courses.

Mornings at Marameo belong to professional dancers who can rely on continuity, as well as innovative approaches, in both the classical and modern classes which are taught by experienced teachers and international guests. ‘ShowTime’, which has become a very sought-after platform, provides professional dancers training at Marameo with the opportunity to present their work.

In the afternoons, approximately 100 children between the ages of 4 and 16 take dance courses at Marameo. As well as helping children discover a joy in movement, the classes develop their emotional and physical strength. The preparation for the annual performances gives our young dancers the opportunity to take an active part in the creative process and to develop a feeling for dance as a performing art.

Courses on our diverse evening programme are chiefly influenced by each teacher’s unique artistic perspective. There are just as inspiring courses for beginners as there are for advanced dance fanatics. Performance projects, which bring exciting dance pieces to the stage, take place on a regular basis.

Marameo Berlin e.V is a registered non-profit organisation which aims to promote contemporary dance forms to people of all ages. Children, teenagers, adults, amateurs and professional dancers can all connect with and experience the fascination of physical movement.

In addition to dance technique, which includes spatial orientation, we also dance various step combinations from pop culture to loosen up. In the second part of the lesson, we apply what we have learned in a choreography and try out our dancing expression. The spectrum of our dances ranges from lyrical Adagio, Pop, Hip-Hop and Showdance to instrumental contemporary pieces in which interdisciplinary excursions are integrated. Students have the possibility to combine the lessons in modern dance technique with a second lesson in choreography & improvisation, but can also attend the dance technique lesson separately.
