Inside Extremity dance classes are based on a movement process which focuses on physical strength, awareness, improvisation ability and personal coordination. While exploring our individuality, we look for the understanding of the body’s ability to produce dance vocabulary. We start with physical improvisation tasks in order to explore and build movement awareness and creativity. The work uses technical tasks which propose both physical freedom and limitations and uses the speed of the movement as a tool to transform the body through challenging its own stamina. It leads the participants into exploring different qualities of movement and high speed of physicality while being clear with the intention of their bodies. In the second part, we create a long sequence that combines the tools of the Improvisation, using again unpredictable motion and challenging coordination but this time into a fixed material.
