Edwin Mota gave classical dance training at marameo for over 20 years – constant and unwavering we greatly appreciate his commitment over three moves and wildly eventful times.
We will greatly miss his enthusiasm, expertise and kindness!

We regret his decision to leave the marameo and wish him all the very best.

Bio

Edwin Mota was born in Mexico and began his dance education at the Escuela Nacional de Danza (Mexico). He later received a scholarship to the School of American Ballet in New York where he completed his studies under Stanley Williams. In 1985 he was one of the prize winners of the Prix de Lausanne. He has danced as first soloist with the Königlichen Ballett Flandern, London City Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Staatsoper Hannover and as guest soloist with, among others, the Komische Oper Berlin and the Ballet Nacional de Mexico. His wealth of experience includes the repertoire of Marius Petipa, Kenneth McMillan, Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, John Cranko, Jiri Kylian, Paul Taylor and Kurt Jooss, to name but a few. He worked as Ballet Master at the Ballet de Zaragoza and as a ballet teacher in Berlin, at the Ballet Nacional de Mexico, London City Ballet, Ballett Kiel, Tanzhaus nrw, Neuer Tanz, Amanda Miller’s Pretty ugly tanz Köln and at the Staatstheater Nürnberg, among others.

Class description Ballet

The main focus of this class is to stimulate the participant’s enjoyment of ballet technique through movement and physical expression. It begins with barre exercises, followed by center sequences, and finishes with grand allegro combinations. This class helps to improve posture, flexibility and awareness of the body, as well as musicality and individual creative expressiveness.

Class description Ballet for Dancers

This class is designed to awaken in dancers a total awareness of body and soul. It works to achieve a solid ballet technique, focusing on posture, placement, physical coordination, musicality and grace. I teach dancers to express themselves by using the best techniques that showcase a full range of their abilities, while encouraging confidence and ease. This is a class for dancers wishing to experience the joy of dance. Having been a professional ballet dancer, and now teacher, has brought many wonderful moments of creativity and magic into my life – I am very grateful to be a part of this beautiful art form.
