Training for Dancers

Bio

Tamas is most noted for his close collaboration with choreographer William Forsythe, artist/ theatre maker Jan Fabre and sharing the directorship of the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerpen, with choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. His decades long dance career took him from the Hungarian State Ballet Academy ( Magyar Tancmuveszeti Foiskola ) to a worldwide dance career most notably with William Forsythe’s seminal Ballet Frankfurt. Other choreographers and artists works he’d performed in include: Jan Fabre, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Hans Van Manen, Crystal Pite, Saburo Teshigowara, Jonathan Burrows, Kurt Joos, Robert North, Marcia Haydee, Ruyichi Sakamoto, Mike Figgis, Tony Rizzi, etc. After his dancing years Tamas had embarked on a teaching career with the aim to connect different training methods, that result in a higher sense of articulacy and artistry during movement.  His method draws on neuro-science, training of martial arts, authentic yogic principles, physiotherapeutic exercises, the Forsythe Improvisational Technologies, that in combination raise the level of awareness in the moving body. His teaching had brought him to: Cullberg Ballet, P.A.R.T.S, Codarts, the Palucca University in Dresden, Le Prix de Lausanne, Copenhagen   Contemporary Dance School, Skanes Dance Theatre,   ImpulsTanz (Vienna), the Venice Biennale’s Arsenale della Danza, KNUA, Women’s University ( Seoul ), ArchiTanz (Tokyo) , Istanbul University, Marmara University, Mimar Sinan University of fine arts, Yildiz Technical University,   ( Istanbul), the University fur Music and Kunst Koln, Balletto di Roma, and countless other dance institutions worldwide. Tamas has been quietly influencing teachers, choreographers and creating dancers who are capable to access varied repertoires and dance styles at a very high level of artistry and grace.  Enabling personal growth while working in an organic manner and achieving an individual’s full potential.

Class Description

Tamas class makes use of his strict Vaganova training and connecting that to the generous movement vocabulary of his Frankfurt Ballet years. (under the directorship of William Forsythe). With the use of cleverly structured combinations, dynamics, and playful musicality he creates a fast moving class with exercises that also require the use a certain type of attention. Ballet Class with him becomes a dancing experience as well as a technically challenging training.
