Bio

Breeanne Camille Saxton is a choreographer, music maker, dance teacher, and performer currently based in Berlin, Germany. After receiving her BFA in modern dance from the University of Utah in 2015, Breeanne has had the pleasure of working and collaborating with a variety of freelance contemporary dance artists and companies around the world. She divides her time evenly between choreography, performance, and teaching, with the three practices constantly influencing each other. Play, serious fun, and non-hierarchical respect are some of the core values she brings into the studio. She had the honor of being a company dancer with Ririe Woodbury Dance Company and performing the works of Ann Carlson, Raja Feather-Kelly, Joanne Kotze, Doug Varone, Daniel Charon, Adam Barruch, and Alwin Nikolais with Alberto Del Saz of the Murray-Louis Foundation worldwide. Other artists with whom she has collaborated include LajaMartin, Yael Cibulski, The Utah Opera, Daniél Desnoyers, Steve Koester, Kyle Lang, Molly Heller, Eric Handman, Shaun Boyle, Scott Wells, Yanis Adoniou, and Scotty Hardwig. She currently works often and joyously as a dancer with Jasmine Ellis Projects and Bad Posture Productions. Her choreography has been shown in various theaters and venues in the USA, Germany, and Spain. Her queer dance-theater work legaxy xx was awarded 3rd prize in choreography at the 2021 Stuttgart Solo Dance Theater Festival and 3rd prize in the solo contest at the Masdanza Int. Festival. Her current choreographic work in progress “durch Hilma”, in collaboration with RawTrip (Melissa Kieffer and Alica Minar), will premiere at Dock 11 in October 2022. Her artistic research orbits around the cultivation of a holistically expressive performative body that has access to vocalization, theatrical precision, and dynamic physicalities. She enjoys observing such bodies in science fictional, fantastical, obscene, grotesque, humane and remarkable performative situations.

Class Description Dancer Training

Breeanne’s professional training focuses on developing a heightened awareness of the interplay between layers of experience to facilitate dynamic and fully expressive movement potentials. The class begins with playful, simple, and juicy suggestions designed to create heat and fluidity; the heat is there to empty and cleanse the mind and body of limiting thoughts, physical tensions, and annoying fears so we may have access to the availability of the present body. Breeanne invests in the power of the group to create extraordinary circumstances where we can dare to fail and fall and be caught by our community. The class culminates in dynamic phrase work, which incorporates floorwork, release, musicality, acrobatics, and more, but is always leaving you out of breath and full of life. Dancers can expect to drop in, trip out, and blast off. Serious Fun guaranteed.

Class Description Beginners Class

This class will start with soft and playful inquiry into efficient use of the skeletal and muscular structure in relationship to the floor. Throughout the hour and fifteen minutes we will investigate movement pathways that have floorwork and release based contemporary dance lineages. We will discover new strength and endurance through letting go and allowing the floor and the space to support us. The class will build on itself growing up and out into a sustainable sweaty joyous crescendo where we are available enough to try new expansive movement modalities alone, in duets, and ensemble work that emerge from our investigation into dynamic and nuanced dance pathways.
