D’FRAC Studio Sessions x marameo

We invite you warmly to join us in the tender time between the years to come together and create magical, inspiring moments with our dancing bodies. The studio setting offers a framework for explorations of our bodies in movement and to journey deeper into the sensational feeling layers activated by it. In the somatic movement practices we open ourselves to being present and enter streams of connection- with ourselves, other people and the cosmos. All these layers become elevated in the flow of the dance floor. The dance floor is our space that holds us in unity, where we can share ourselves through kinaesthetic empathy and invites us into our uniqueness as we celebrate the power of creative expression.

Sensual athletic raving

The session starts with bringing attention and focus to the body, the site of our creativity and expression. The warm up is designed to open and bring flow to the body and to access varied physical-energetic states.Through somatic practices we open layers of sensitivity and perception that connect us in new ways with our internal and external environments.
We then deepen the creative process by connecting with sound and space- inner body / interpersonal space / collective space / universal space. In a playful way we devise choreographic situations in which we explore moving through these different, layered spaces and perceptive states. This allows for developing our compositional sense deriving from an understanding that in our sensory experience everything is relational- how dramatic tension lives in the principles of contrast, polarity & unity and how that allows our dancing bodies to inhabit and morph into a wide scope of expressions.
Entering the next stage, we activate our inner athlete, a presence of full commitment of spirit, heart and bodymind with which we continue to open up our physical energy and enter deeper into the flow of our imagination and dancing. Grounded and present in the senses and sensitivity, we hone our creativity on the dance floor. Carried by the music, we enter the state of raving, a dream-like perceptive state transcending ordinary boundaries where new levels of imagination open as we ride the spectrum of our physical energy. As the creative agents of our process, we continuously choose how we relate to the music, the space and the body of the collective, expressing the unfolding potential of each moment.

The Flowering State

D’FRAC founder and resident Dj has spent more than a decade creating dancefloors as a party promoter and club owner. For someone that has always been active in the intersection of music and dance, shifting his focus to improvisational experiences and movement research was a natural next step. This shift gave birth to D’FRAC, a format designed to capture the best of both spheres (club and studio) and offer a new way of coming together in dance..
