About the Workshop
Through a series of engaging games and exercises, we will explore several ways to interact with other bodies. We will explore essential technical skills that enhance our ability to listen and respond to our partners.
We will play with concepts such as weight and space, aiming to cultivate a deeper awareness that transcends the boundaries of our own physicality. By honing our sensitivity and understanding, we will learn to move in harmony with others, creating dynamic and expressive dance partnerships.
This workshop is designed for dancers, who are eager to expand their partnering skills and experience the joy of collaborative movement. Come prepared to connect, communicate, and explore the endless possibilities of dancing together!
About Emmanouela
Emmanouela Nikoli Dolianiti is a Greek dancer and choreographer based in Berlin. As a performer, she was engaged in several dance, theatre, circus and visual art projects with Sasha Waltz & Guests, Constanza Macras/Dorkypark, Romeo Castellucci, Greta Granderath & Regina Rossi, Kirsten Burger, Kadir Amigo Memis, Maria Colusi amongst others. As a choreographer, she has collaborated with Asuka J. Riedl on the creation HIMIKO and with Yuya Fujinami in Memini, that received the audience award best duo 2017 at the 9th international solo-duo festival in Cologne, and ETHEREAL, in co-production with Constanza Macras/Dorkypark and EX-teater. Apart from her dance studies, she also holds a degree in philosophy, education and psychology.
About Cristiana
After a career in rhythmic gymnastics, Cristiana was selected as a trainee with the Aterballetto Company, directed by Mauro Bigonzetti. She has received several grants, including those from the Merce Cunningham Studio and Peridance Center in New York. Cristiana has performed with various companies, including Enzo Celli’s Botega Dance Company (Italy), the J.K. Tyl Theater in Pilsen (Czech Republic), and from 2001 to 2009, she was a soloist with the Balletto dell’Esperia in Turin, directed by Paolo Mohovich.
Since 2010, Cristiana has been based in Berlin as a freelance artist, participating in numerous productions and projects both as a performer and choreographer (e.g. Berliner Ensemble, in the piece “Menschen, Orte und Dinge”). She collaborates with artists from various disciplines, and her works have been showcased in numerous international venues and festivals.
Her piece “Tangram” was shortlisted for the Total Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and won the first prize for performing arts at the Internationale Kulturbörse Freiburg in 2017. Cristiana’s artistic work has been supported by the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland through the Dis-tanzen program in 2021-2022, as well as by the Senate Department of Culture for work and research in the performing arts in 2023.
