Training for Dancers


Born in the UK and educated at the Royal Ballet School in London, Robert danced professionally with the Vienna State Opera Ballet and the Norwegian National Ballet Company. Since 2004 he has been working as a freelance teacher in classical ballet, working regularly with such companies as Göteborg Danskompani, Skånes Dansteater, Norrdans, Carte Blanche Norway, Scottish Dance Theatre, Tanz Mainz, Tanz Linz, National Dance Company Wales, Gärtnerplatz Theater Munich and Theater Münster as well as many others. Robert has taught the open professional classes in Oslo, Vienna, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Amsterdam as well as at international summer festivals in Bolzano, Tromsø and Stockholm. He is also employed as a lecturer in ballet at the Institute for Dance Arts (IDA) in Linz, Austria.

Class description

A culmination of his background in classical ballet and years of experience teaching ballet to contemporary dancers, Robert’s class focuses on working with ease of movement and efficiency, as well as understanding and incorporating healthy placement and alignment. The class also places special emphasis on musicality and expansive, joyous movement in a relaxed, welcoming and encouraging environment!
