Training for Dancers
Raphaël Coumes-Marquet Freelance BALLET MASTER Born in France, trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School, Raphaël Coumes-Marquet was a soloist with the Monte-Carlo Ballet, the Vienna State Opera Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet. In 2006, he joined the Semperoper Ballett as a Principal Dancer. He has danced an enormous diverse repertoire from the leading roles in the major full-length classics to the neoclassical and contemporary works of Balanchine, Forsythe, Kylián and Ek among others. He was a muse to choreographer David Dawson and created numerous works, most notably the role of Albrecht in Dawson‘s creation of »Giselle«. As a guest artist, Coumes-Marquet has danced in various international galas and festivals throughout the world and with the English National Ballet and National Ballet of Croatia. In 2015 he became a ballet master of the Semperoper Ballett responsible for rehearsing works of all the major choreographers working with the company as well as „Project leader and coordinator“ for the Semper Zwei in Dresden choreographing and organizing performances and workshops. He has choreographed annually for the Semperopernball Dresden, ZDF Silvester Concert and directed and choreographed a collaborated work of „Alice“. He is currently staging the works of David Dawson and is a regular guest teacher for Monte-Carlo Ballet and Semper Oper Ballet.
Based on the premises of the French ballet school and inspired by many coaching styles experienced through out an international dance carriere, the class will build technical strength, develop artistry and at the same time improve core posture. It will also focus on improving the coordination of the arms, the legs and the entire body in order to enhance the dancer ‘s musicality and speed.
