Bio

Marcel Casablanca is born and raised in Barcelona where he started his dance education studying contemporary dance in the conservatory of Barcelona and afterwards joined the young company IT dansa. At the age of 20 he moved to Switzerland to pursue his dance career. Between 2015-2022 he works as a dancer for the following state theaters: Konzert Theater Bern, Tanzcompagnie Giessen and Mainfrankentheater Würzburg.

In 2022 he moved to Berlin, where he has begun to develop his interest in choreography and teaching. In these past three years, he has worked as a dancer with choreographers such as Felipe Fiscal, Veronika Riz, Tamar Grosz and Vera Shchelkina. He has choreographed a solo selected for Solo-Tanztheater Festival Stuttgart (2024) and worked as a guest teacher in Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, Volkstheater Rostock, Tanzplatform Leipzig and Produktionszentrum Stuttgart. Marcel is currently studying the Feldenkrais Method as well as pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social studies.

Class Description

Marcel Casablanca’s training focuses on fundamental physical principles and how to find optimal movement patterns for one’s body. The class has its emphasis on maximizing possibilities with minimal effort. Marcel also aims to strengthen trust in the wisdom that the body stores and to work with our inner child. The training consists of a Feldenkrais inspired warm up, improvisation, floor work or partnering/contact, and a phrase featuring challenging coordination and acrobatic elements.
