Class Description

The class is based on contemporary dance. We begin with an improvisation-based warm-up that focuses on developing awareness of the body, particularly the positioning and use of bones and muscles. From there, we expand into approaches to the floor and the use of space.

Through group improvisation, we research how to share space with others and how movement relationships can be formed and sustained. The class also includes floor work–based combinations and learning choreography.
