Training for Dancers

Bio

Berlin-based, from Damascus, Syria. Originally and currently based in Berlin, he is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher whose practice is rooted in physical exploration and the continuous development of movement. He is committed to pushing the boundaries of movement through a unique fusion of contemporary dance and acrobatic floorwork.
His artistic approach combines technical precision with organic, fluid movement. He explores movement through momentum, efficiency, and the body’s natural intelligence, allowing transitions to emerge intuitively rather than through conscious control. Drawing inspiration from the principles of weight, flow, and connection, he seeks to create a movement language that feels both dynamic and effortless. Through his practice, he continues to discover new physical possibilities while developing a distinctive artistic language that balances technical skill with creative freedom.

Class description

This class introduces soft acrobatics and floorwork from an organic and accessible perspective.
We’ll break movements down to their foundations and explore both progressions and regressions, making the practice suitable for all levels.
Our focus will be on developing a deep connection with the floor through a range of elements, including:
• Floor exercises and movement phrases
• Spirals, levers, and directional clarity
• Handstands and inverted transitions
Beyond technique, we’ll explore the flow of movement and the philosophy behind it, focusing on quality, intent, and spatial awareness.

The class is divided into four parts:
1. Warm-Up
We begin by preparing the body through exercises that build
strength, flexibility, and balance. This foundation supports more complex movements later
in the class.
2. Traveling Acrobatics
In this section, we learn acrobatic sequences while moving
across the floor. Each trick is taught progressively, emphasizing control, safety, and fluidity.
3. Choreography & Integration
Here, we combine elements from the previous sections into a dynamic phrase. This allows
us to test our skills in a creative and expressive context, working with flow, rhythm, and transitions.
4. Cool-Down & Reflection
We finish with stretching and a meditative cool-down, allowing time
to release tension and integrate the practice both physically and mentally.
