Open level

Alice Heyward is a dancer, choreographer, writer and certified Klein Technique™ teacher from Naarm/Melbourne, based in Berlin and working internationally. She was certified by Susan Klein in 2024, following over a decade of dedicated study that began in 2013 and continued through the Klein Technique™ Teacher Certification Program from 2018. She has also studied extensively with Hanna Hegenscheidt and alongside fellow teachers within the certification program.

As a teacher, she transmits the work with clarity, precision and ongoing inquiry, addressing individuals within group contexts and respecting each body’s unique history and process. She approaches teaching as a practice of co-learning — cultivating the capacity to generate knowledge within ourselves through relation with each other.

Alice maintains an active international performance and choreographic practice and works as a performance critic and writer. Her texts are widely published across contemporary dance and visual art platforms.

Class Description

Klein Technique™ is a rigorous and restorative movement practice developed by Susan Klein, influenced by studies in Zero Balancing, Five Element Acupuncture, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Laban Movement Analysis. It reorganizes the body at the level of the bones, cultivating clear connections within the body and to earth and space.

Through dynamic alignment, we maximize the transmission of force, deepening our grounding and expanding into space. We investigate the anatomy and function of deep structural support to build power and strength through coordination and greater ease of motion. The practice develops an integrated understanding of the body as a whole, supporting each individual’s unique movement potential.

Whether you are a professional dancer or seeking a deeper understanding of your body, these classes offer insight into movement patterns and habits while cultivating improved physical awareness, potentiality, and clarity.
