The workshop from 16:30–17:30 is recommended for children aged 4-6 and a trusted caregiver.
Based on the instinctive sense of movement and touch that young children still follow when they play, dance, and interact, we will try out new ways of dancing, climbing, and flying together.
Through playful improvisation tasks, we will develop a sensitive understanding of our body language while dancing with the child and, using various movement and encounter principles, explore individual partnering approaches that can be developed into acrobatics.
For the children, it is a wonderful experience to encounter their most trusted caregivers as dance partners, while their creativity and kinetic understanding are inspired by the tasks and group dynamics.
Bio
Thora Hohberg is a mother, dancer, and interdisciplinary artist. Her work blends sound, movement, and poetry to make inner states visible and highlight social issues. She explores how differences between living beings can lead to shared language and expression. Her artistic aim is to raise awareness of the impact every form of existence has on its surroundings.
Thora began her career as a street dancer performing with musicians in Berlin before diving deeper into the city’s dance scene. While she values stages and studios, she continues to place her performances in public spaces where they can be encountered spontaneously and the environment becomes part of the piece.
Currently, she experiments with floor, body, and object percussion, unusual rhythms, and the interplay of atmosphere, movement, and language. For her, it remains essential to recognize that even on stage or in artistic processes, we are all human — vulnerable, complex, and connected.
Her work has been presented in Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Lithuania. She is the founder of the Neriom Collective and enjoys developing projects through exchange with people from diverse backgrounds. Alongside her artistic practice, Thora teaches contemporary dance, research labs, bodywork, and parent-child partnering.
The latter arose from her life with her daughter Sibila, whom she involved in rehearsals and performances from the start. This created a unique form of communication and a deeper understanding of the tensions between motherhood, societal pressure, and artistic work. Today, mother and daughter teach together — a collaboration sparked by Sibila’s own initiative.
