Bio: Pieter de Ruiter was trained at the Scapino Dance Academy in Amsterdam, Holland. As a dancer he worked with dance company Introdans in Arnhem, the Opéra de Lyon in France and The Batsheva Dance Company in Israel. As a choreographer he made ballets for, among others the Nederlands Dans Theater, the Het Nationale Ballet, various groups in Germany (Ballet Braunschweig and Ballet Mannheim), Italy (Ater Balletto di Reggio Emilia), the Czech Republic and Brazil.
Class Description: De Ruiter's choreographies draw the attention because of their intriguing language of movements that originates from a combination of classical ballet techniques and modern dance styles. By adding every-day elements and by situating them in extreme locations, he creates a powerful emotional and sensual dance. Pieter de Ruiter also teaches ballet at various places and at different dance companies in the Netherlands and abroad. He teaches a dynamic, concentrated, both powerful and musical class.
